Schoolgirl calls on government not to end free school meals for desperate children during summer holidays

A SCHOOLGIRL’S call for the government to dump plans to axe free school meals for disadvantaged students during the summer holidays won the backing of over 15,000 people today.

The 16-year-old also received support from celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, who helped schools nationwide to develop healthy and nutritional school meals.

Christina Adane, from London, launched a petition on campaign website change.org asking Prime Minister Boris Johnson not to abolish the provision of free school meals during the May half-term break and the long summer break to disadvantaged children who get them free at school.
