USDAW will fully support the TUC’s Jobs and Homes, not Racism campaign, the annual delegate meeting of the retail workers’ union heard today.
The increasing activity by far-right and racist groups such as the Football Lads Alliance that “seek to exploit the worries of the working-class communities while offering no way forward” was noted by the east London retail group at the conference.
Usdaw deputy general secretary Dave McCrossen said that despite years of anti-racism campaigning, black workers are still much more likely to be in low-paid and low-status jobs.
