THE SNP has been urged to act after figures showed Scotland’s cancer treatment targets have fallen to another record low.
Patients waiting more than 62 days for treatment after receiving an urgent cancer referral rose to 30.6 per cent in the quarter ending in March, according to Public Health Scotland.
The target of 5 per cent was not met by a single NHS board this quarter and has not been met overall for over a decade.
It added that the 31-day standard, which requires 95 per cent of patients with a cancer diagnosis to start treatment within 31 days, was also missed for the third consecutive quarter.
Scottish Labour branded Holyrood’s cancer plan as “inadequate” and warned that “the lives of Scots hang in the balance.”
Health spokeswoman Jackie Baillie said: “NHS staff are working tirelessly but are being failed by this government and its inadequate cancer plan.”
The SNP has been contacted for comment.
