Teachers hit out at government for missing recruitment targets for 7th year in a row

AMBULANCE paramedics who rushed to give a patient emergency treatment found a note on their vehicle’s windscreen calling them “dumbass” for blocking the driveway of a house.

The crew from South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS), which covers Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Hampshire, attended a medical emergency at a property in Lymington in Hampshire when the note was left on their vehicle.

It read: “Dumbass! You are fully blocking my driveway!” It was found by the crew, whose names were given as Zoe and Chris.

SCAS posted a copy of the note on social media, prompting messages of support.

An SCAS statement said: “Sadly, this was what Zoe and Chris came back to on their ambulance after attending a medical emergency in Lymington, Hampshire, today.

“This sort of abuse is completely unacceptable. When our staff attend medical emergencies they need to park as close as possible to the patient’s house, in order to get to them and start treatment as quickly as possible.”

SCAS assistant director of operations Paul Jefferies said: “It’s very sad and disappointing that a member of the public felt the need to leave a note like this on one of our ambulances that was responding to an emergency.”

The crew received support from members of the public, with sympathiser Ellen Taylor saying: “Unbelievable — just hope that person is never the emergency. They might be more understanding and compassionate.

“You all do a job which most of us are incapable of doing. Thank you for all you do.”

And Jennifer Oborn said: “What selfish people with no empathy for others.”
