Teaching union NEU calls for mass testing in schools

BRITAIN’S biggest teaching union demanded the mass rollout of coronavirus testing in schools today after official figures showed soaring infection rates among pupils.

The National Education Union said that the government was to blame for a “chaotic pattern” of Covid-19 infections after it insisted that schools remain open with face-to-face teaching.

More than two per cent of schoolchildren are now infected, with those aged 11 to 16 showing the highest infection rates, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) found.
