Teaching unions back Labour's call for mass testing in schools

TEACHING unions backed today’s Labour call for mass Covid-19 tests in schools as a priority to keep classrooms safe during the pandemic.

Shadow education secretary Kate Green said that pupils and staff should be prioritised for rapid testing so that schools can remain open to all pupils throughout the winter.

She argued that testing should be available on-site or at local facilities to help avoid thousands of children missing classes during the second lockdown.
