DISGRACEFUL Tory ministers are “doing their utmost” to exacerbate the cost-of-living crisis, GMB national president Barbara Plant charged today.

Years of “failed austerity, pay freezes and tax rises” had put the squeeze on working people, she told delegates on the opening day of the general union’s 2022 congress in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

“Where there’s a problem, you can bet your last pound the Tories will make it even worse,” said Ms Plant, who is also chair of the union’s national schools committee.
