Union steps up campaign to rescue jobs at Trump's Scottish golf resort

THE RMT stepped up its campaign to rescue jobs at Donald Trump’s Turnberry golf resort today before a consultation on the “brutal” cuts closes this week.

The union is encouraging people to back an online petition against an “all-out assault on jobs and conditions” at the US president’s Scottish flagship resort under cover of the Covid-19 crisis.

The package of measures opposed by the RMT involves the axing of up to 80 jobs alongside cuts to sick pay, working hours, pay enhancements, staff benefits and working conditions.

Consultation on the changes ends on Sunday, as the union warns that Trump International has been “hoovering up” furlough payments while plotting to axe staff once the scheme ends.

RMT senior assistant general secretary Mick Lynch said: “The RMT is demanding that the axe be lifted from above our members’ heads at Trump Turnberry and we are calling for public and political support for this campaign in the final days of the consultation.”
