Unions call on Sainsbury's to redeploy staff, not make them redundant
UNIONS called on bosses of supermarket chain Sainsbury’s today to redeploy thousands workers whose jobs are under threat.
Sainsbury’s, Britain’s second-largest supermarket chain after Tesco, has announced plans to shed 3,500 staff in March next year.
The cuts are part of plans to permanently close its meat, fish and deli counters, and a number of Argos stores which the chain took over in 2016 in a £1.4 billion deal.
