SOCIAL CARE workers in Wales can now access a free course providing “vital” knowledge on how to keep themselves and service users protected from Covid-19.
The 20-minute e-course, created by Unison Cymru Wales for its members in the care sector, provides guidance on how to keep vulnerable people and workers as safe as possible from the virus.
It includes tutorials on recognising the signs and symptoms of the virus, hand-washing techniques and the principles of infection control.
“Staff working across health and social care have always been a priority for us, but now more than ever we must do what we can to support those protecting the most vulnerable in society,” said project manager Jenny Griffin.
“This free Covid-19 course will start to equip staff with the knowledge they vitally need at this time.”
It follows an urgent appeal yesterday from Cardiff Council for social workers to join the sector to meet “the intense demand” in care homes.
Members of the union can access Unison’s Covid-19 training by completing an application form at tinyurl.com/cv19course.
