A call for a “revolution in public transport to meet the challenges of climate change” has been made by transport and travel union TSSA.
A TUC report this week says an extra £18 billion a year needs to be spent on public trains, trams and buses to help cut car use by 20 per cent and boost the economy.
TSSA says use of trains is still 10 per cent less than it was before the Covid-19 pandemic.
