Welsh LibDems demand devolving the Crown Estate to Wales
Jane Dodds, Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats, in 2018

WELSH Liberal Democrats have demanded devolving the Crown Estate to Wales to ensure the £1 billion profit from offshore wind energy lease agreements stays in the country.

The move was agreed at the party’s weekend conference when it also called for the creation of a “Celtic Sea Powerhouse.”

Management of the Crown Estate in Wales is reserved to Westminster, while in Scotland it has been devolved since 2017.
