YCL protest outside Polish consulate against attacks on Polish Communist Party

MEMBERS of Greater Manchester Young Communist League demonstrated outside the city’s Polish consulate on Saturday against attacks on the Polish Communist Party (KPP).

Attacks against the organisation are being carried out by the right-wing Polish government.

Khalid Talati of Greater Manchester YCL said: “We stand with our comrades in Poland against their right-wing government's crusade against communists and the working class.

“They have conducted a long campaign in trying to equate fascism with communism, even though Polish and Soviet communists played a vital role in the resistance against Nazi occupation in Poland.

“We also stand with the women, migrants and LGBT Polish citizens who have also faced repression as abortion rights have been rolled back, anti-immigrant laws have been put in place, and many Polish towns declaring themselves ‘anti-LGBT zones’.

“Tyranny can only be fought with collective action, something that communists everywhere champion, and international solidarity in times like these can be all the more help.

“The KPP has our full support in their continued fight.”
