Bolsonaro appoints climate change denier and conspiracy theorist as foreign minister

BRAZIL’S president-elect Jair Bolsonaro named a man as right-wing as himself today to be the country’s next foreign minister when he takes office on January 1 next year.

Mr Bolsonaro announced on Twitter that the career diplomat Ernesto Araujo will lead the country’s foreign affairs, tweeting that he has been “a diplomat for 29 years and a brilliant intellectual.”

He wrote: “Brazilian foreign policy must be part of the moment of regeneration that Brazil is experiencing today.”
