British Bobsleigh set to cut women’s funding

Britain’s top female bobsledder accused her national governing body yesterday of “mismanagement” after it emerged the women’s team may lose its funding less than six months before the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Mica McNeill, a silver medallist at the 2012 Youth Winter Olympics and 2017 world junior champion, posted a message on Twitter to say they are “devastated to be put in this situation” and included a link to an online fundraising page.

There the 23-year-old from Consett explains how achieving the selection criteria for Pyeongchang 2018 and competing at an Olympics has always been her aim.
