THERE are few, young or old, who haven’t come across the work of Quentin Blake, illustrator of Roald Dahl’s classic children’s stories such as 123, James and the Giant Peach, Matilda or Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator.
Instantly recognisable, his energetic “sketchy” drawing style is Blake’s very own.
He’s just designed a free series of endearing, funny and affirmative e-cards to enjoy and share with somebody you love, care about or who might need cheering up.
Blake says that he’s seen people putting rainbows in their windows “to express optimism and solidarity” and confesses unashamedly to “taking the liberty of borrowing them.”
He’s returning them now with generous interest — mum’s hair, grandad’s moustache and a family meal all feature — and there is a pot of joy and gentle humour at the end of every one of them.
