Poetry On The Picketline Sir IDS by Adrian Green (with acknowledgements to Dylan Thomas)

Do not be gentle over that dark knight,
He should be scourged and caged at close of day;
Rage, rage against the lying of the right.

He cared nothing for the disadvantaged in their plight
But sent them to the food banks day-by-day.
Do not be gentle over that dark knight.

Good folk, the homeless and disabled, might
Have had some dignity another way.
Rage, rage against the lying of the right.

Mild folk who quote the Mail and Sun in spite
Will learn, too late, the evil of his way.
Do not be gentle over that dark knight.

Poor folk, near death, being sent to work or fight
Will perish if he has his Tory way —
Rage, rage against the lying of the right.

And you, dear voter, have it as your right
To curse him now that he be gone before election day.
Do not be gentle over that dark knight.
Rage, rage against the lying of the right.
