‘Greetings, comrades
And thank you for
That standing ovation
I find myself
In a new situation
Perhaps, I’d better
Explain to you
That I think the Red Wall
Isn’t really blue
Oh, and my defection
Has got nothing whatsoever to do
With my majority of
Four hundred and two
My previous votes
As a Tory MP
With three-line whips
Were deemed necessary
As you know
You have to toe the line
And I’m not a Corbyn man
Which you’ll regard as fine
It’s not that my politics
Have become closer to yours
But that yours have
Become closer to mine.’
