Central Line Tube workers strike over ‘breakdown in industrial relations’

LONDON Tube workers on the Central Line went on strike today over a “breakdown with management in industrial relations.”

RMT members staged the 24-hour walkout, with workers claiming that management had ignored proper workplace procedures, not employed enough drivers and was victimising a union member.

The union claimed that the failure to address these issues has led to serious tensions.

RMT general secretary Mick Cash said the union “was angry and frustrated” that management had “squandered a golden opportunity over the past week to resolve the issues at the heart of the dispute through the talks process.

“The strike action is the clearest possible demonstration to Tube bosses of the level of anger on the job and it’s down to them to take the situation seriously and engage in genuine talks around reaching a solution to the current disputes.”
