Cyclists to ride from Hastings to Edinburgh to raise funds for Freedom from Torture

CYCLISTS are launching a Hastings-to-Edinburgh bike ride to raise awareness of and funds for the Freedom from Torture campaign.

Volunteers will set off on July 1, arriving in Edinburgh on July 28, planning a series of events along the route.

Organisers have appealed for “bike buddies” to accompany the cyclists on local sections of the ride.

Moira Dunworth of the campaign’s Edinburgh group, said: “We don’t envisage there being very many cyclists at any one time and we are hoping that some will be volunteering for some of the route legs.

“We are planning to create a website for our local group and to feature various aspects of this ride as a main part of that.

“The wave of moral support from around the country is wonderful.”
