Tillerson: Diplomacy 'will continue until the first bomb drops'

REX TILLERSON contradicted Donald Trump’s bellicose posturing on North Korea at the weekend, saying diplomacy “will continue until the first bomb drops.”

US supreme leader Mr Trump has ruled out talks, but Secretary of State Mr Tillerson told CNN’s State of the Union that while military plans were in place,“the president has also made clear to me that he wants this solved diplomatically.  He’s not seeking to go to war.”

Mr Tillerson said during a recent trip to Beijing that the Trump administration was keeping open direct channels of communications with North Korea and probing Pyongyang’s willingness to talk.
