One struggle and one fight
Trade unionists should link up in solidarity wherever and wherever we can – and the GMB Mitie strikers joining the RMT rally last weekend set an example for the whole labour movement to take courage from, says HELEN O’CONNOR

GMB members have held a solid 10 days’ of strike action in their ongoing battle for better contracts and job security in St George’s hospital in Tooting, south London. 

Other trade union members from the RMT, Unite and the CWU are also embarking on struggles against ruthless employers who want to cut staffing to the bone, fragment services and drive down pay and conditions for anyone who survives the carnage. 

No-one will escape the impact of the ongoing cuts and privatisation agenda that is being wreaked on our public services.
