‘We have stood strong. We have stood together’
by LOUISE ATKINSON, NEU president (based on her speech to NEU conference 2023)
Striking members of the National Education Union (NEU) on Piccadilly march to a rally in Trafalgar Square, central London. Picture date: Wednesday March 15, 2023.

EVER since our formation, I have been immensely proud to be a National Education Union member.

But never more so than this year. Not because, for the last seven months, I have been fortunate enough to serve as NEU president, but because our fabulous members have taken unprecedented action to save our schools. Action that we have been left with no choice but to take.

Together we smashed the anti-trade union thresholds, in formal postal ballots, organising across over 24,000 workplaces.
