Greysteel marks 25th anniversary of loyalist massacre
The coffins of the four people killed in a loyalist gun attack in the Rising Sun pub are taken to cemetery in Greysteel, Derry

VILLAGERS in Greysteel celebrated Halloween today for the first time since a loyalist terror attack on a pub 25 years ago in which eight people were killed.

For years the tight-knit community of the Derry village had found it too painful to mark the date after the brutal murders when gunmen opened fire on a Halloween party in the Rising Sun pub.

However, children celebrated today with pumpkins and the pub will host a “talent show and disco” over the weekend.
