SHADOW justice secretary Richard Burgon called for a mass attendance today at next month’s Towards a Socialist Government rally at The World Transformed (TWT) conference in Liverpool.
The mass meeting will take place from 7.30pm on Tuesday September 25 and is organised by the Socialist Campaign Group of Labour MPs.
Speakers include Mr Burgon as well as shadow chancellor John McDonnell, shadow home secretary Diane Abbott, shadow business secretary Rebecca Long-Bailey and Dennis Skinner MP.
“The Socialist Campaign Group was founded by Tony Benn nearly 40 years ago and it was from it that Jeremy Corbyn’s first leadership campaign was launched back in 2015,” Mr Burgon told the Morning Star.
“The rally is a great opportunity to get together to discuss moving towards a socialist government in Britain with Corbyn as prime minister.”
TWT is a grassroots left political and cultural event running parallel to the Labour Party conference in the city between September 22 and 25.
