RETAIL union Usdaw launched its young workers’ week 2023 today with a focus on mental health in the workplace.
The annual event provides an “opportunity for union reps and activists to reach young workers and share the campaigning work that Usdaw does,” the union said.
This year, reps are being encouraged to talk to their younger colleagues about mental health and point them towards Usdaw’s young workers mental health survey, currently open online.
Plans to delay access to the universal credit health element until age 22 have triggered fierce opposition from disabled people’s groups, who warn it would deepen poverty and entrench discrimination against young disabled people under the guise of ‘encouraging work.’ DYLAN MURPHY reports
