TORY ministers’ claims to be spreading “opportunities for all” in education were slammed by teachers as a travesty today.
Delegates at the NEU’s annual conference in Bournemouth overwhelmingly backed an urgent motion on the government’s white paper, published last month, which promised to help schools recover after the Covid-19 pandemic.
The amended motion argued that its proposals fail to address the problems schools and children face as they are underfunded and fail to mention child poverty or reforms to Ofsted – the schools inspectorate.
