ISRAEL faces an uprising if it presses ahead with plans to annex even more occupied Palestinian territory, former foreign minister Nabeel Shaath warned yesterday.
The senior Fatah official said in a press conference that all the Palestinian forces have agreed to resist the land grab, using all the available means, including political and diplomatic options.
While appeals were being made to the United Nations over the annexation plans, he warned that Israel faces another intifada if it goes ahead with its plans, which could be actioned as early as July 1.
The Palestinian Authority officially cut off all ties with Israel and the US earlier this month over Tel Aviv’s plans, which were set out in US President Donald Trump’s inflammatory so-called Deal of the Century announced earlier this year.
It would also see Jerusalem gifted to Israel as its capital, a notion that sparked a wave of protests and a general strike in the Palestinian territories.
Mr Shaath warned that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's “racist” plans “aim to liquidate Palestinian rights,” and he urged the International Criminal Court to prosecute Israel for war crimes against Palestinians.
Allowing it to get away with its actions sets a precedent in the international arena, he said.
