Jewish schools in north London attacked with red paint

JEWISH schools in north London have been vandalised with red paint, neighbourhood watch group Shomrim revealed today.

The group posted photos of schools in Stamford Hill in the borough of Hackney, which has a large Jewish community, showing red paint thrown on windows, doors and gates of the buildings.

Shomrim said that it was escalating its patrols and collaborating with the Metropolitan Police and local authorities to enhance the protection of the Jewish community.

“We condemn these acts of hate and intimidation,” the group said.

Local MP Diane Abbott condemned the attack.

Ms Abbott, who represents Hackney North and Stoke Newington, wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “There are heightened tensions on all sides because of events in the Middle East.

“But this is not acceptable under any circumstances. Ever.”

The incidents follow the Met Police saying that London has experienced a “massive increase” in anti-semitic incidents since the current war between Hamas and Israel began more than a week ago.

Last week, Education Secretary Gillian Keegan said the government was working closely with a “small number” of Jewish schools, which have temporarily closed over safety fears, to ensure that they can reopen safely.
