Julian Assange denied permission to appeal High Court ruling to extradite him to the United States

JULIAN ASSANGE has been denied permission to appeal against the High Court decision to extradite him to the US, the Supreme Court announced today.

The WikiLeaks founder was hoping to challenge a December 2021 High Court decision to extradite him to the US where he could be jailed for up to 175 years.

WikiLeaks says it is up to Home Secretary Priti Patel to decide whether or not to grant the extradition.

The news comes as it was announced he was to marry his partner Stella Moris later this month.

Only four guests will be allowed to attend the ceremony on March 23.

Fashion designer and staunch supporter of the WikiLeaks founder Vivienne Westwood is designing a wedding dress for Ms Moris and a kilt for Mr Assange.

Ms Moris met Mr Assange when he was living in London’s Ecuadorian embassy seeking political asylum. They have two children together.

She said the couple were both “very excited” even though the “circumstances are very restrictive.”

“He is being held on behalf of a foreign power and has not been charged with anything, which is completely disgraceful,” she said.
