LEWIS MORGAN was delighted to get his first run-out in a Celtic shirt in their opening win of pre-season on Wednesday night.
Brendan Rodgers’s side kicked off their summer with a 1-0 win over SK Vorwarts Steyr, with James Forrest getting the only goal.
Morgan started the game, after finally arriving from St Mirren earlier this summer, and he was happy to get some minutes under his belt alongside his new teammates.
“It’s been a long time coming,” said Morgan, who was signed in January but loaned back to St Mirren for the second half of the last campaign.
“I have been eager to pull the strip on for the first time and it was good to get a wee run-out.
“It’s a great changing room, the boys have been helping me out and Broony [Scott Brown] was helping me through the game there.
“To pull on the jersey for the first time and get 45 minutes was great.”
It was a narrow win for Celtic, but it sees them kick off their preparations for the Champions League qualifiers with a win.
Morgan said: “It’s massive at a club like this, you breed that winning mentality and keep it going.
“Off the back of a great season last season it is important we kick on and regain that winning mentality, so it was good to get over the line.”
