North Sea braces for 'tsunami' of industrial action as offshore workers set to strike
THE “tsunami” of industrial action in the North Sea continues to grow after more offshore workers look set to strike in coming weeks.
An overwhelming 95.5 per cent of Unite members at BP Petrofac, on a turnout of 73.5 per cent, have voted to down tools.
This comes hot on the heels of a series of successful strike ballots in the sector across a number of contractors key to offshore production — Bilfinger, Stork, Petrofac, and Wood Group UK — and brings the total of workers taking part in industrial action up to a potential 1,500.
