Palestine Action protesters arrested after occupying Israeli military tech company

PALESTINE ACTION activists were arrested today after they occupied a military hardware supplier for Israel’s arms trade.

The four protesters broke into the GRiD Defence Systems building in Holtspur Lane, Hugh Wycombe and barricaded themselves inside, destroying military computers and processors.

They unfurled a banner calling out the lesser-know military electronics firm’s supplying of technology to Elbit Systems, which is Israel’s largest arms company.

A spokesperson for Palestine Action said: “GRiD is just one of the companies we know to be supplying Elbit.

“From intel gleaned [by] actions, to information passed on by whistleblowers – we know who you are. And any firm doing business which enables genocide should not be surprised when they too are shut down.

“Palestine Action will continue until every ounce of British complicity in the occupation of Palestine is undone.”

In Leeds, Palestine Action activists also targeted banks Barclays and JP Morgan over their shareholdings in Elbit Systems.

Activists sprayed red paint over the buildings in the city centre using repurposed fire extinguishers to symbolise the bloodshed in Gaza.

A Palestine Action spokesperson said: “Whilst the Gaza genocide rages on, our actions against the zionist war machine and those who fund it will continue to intensify.

“There is no more time to waste on begging institutions to end their complicity.

“Ultimately, banks reduce Palestinian lives to profit on their accounts.

“As finance is the only language they understand, we will ensure they understand the full cost of investing in Israel’s weapons trade.”

Barclays has been repeatedly targeted by Palestine Action in recent weeks, with over 20 branches visited by the direct action network so far.

Many of those branches remain shut.
