Peace protesters stage sit-in at Liverpool Lime Street station demanding Gaza ceasefire

PRO-PALESTINE protesters gathered in Liverpool Lime Street station on Tuesday evening for a sit-in to call for a ceasefire in Gaza.

About 150 people occupied the concourse of the train station with Palestine flags and banners, chanting: “Free Palestine” and “ceasefire now.”

One protester waved an RMT flag to represent the rail union while another carried a Liverpool National Education Union banner.

The protest is one of many similar acts that have taken place in train stations across Britain and globally in the last month amid Israel’s ongoing bombardment of Gaza.

British Transport Police confirmed on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the protest ended with no arrests being made.

No delays to trains were also reported.

Similar protests in central London have led to arrests after Transport Secretary Mark Harper gave an order on Friday to allow the Met Police to stop demonstrations under section 14a of the Public Order Act.

It follows an increased attempt by the government to criminalise pro-Palestinian protests.
