Posties confirm Christmas strikes after Royal Mail rejects calls for last ditch talks

POSTIES confirmed today they will be striking this week after Royal Mail rejected an offer of negotiations to bring about a Christmas truce.

An offer to suspend the strikes and establish a period of calm from now until January 16 was rejected by the company almost immediately, the Communication Workers Unions (CWU) said.

The union also sought to get Royal Mail to sign a joint agreement incorporating the company's latest promise of no compulsory redundancies.
