QUAKERS have held a silent protest against war profiteers outside one of the world’s largest arms fairs in London.
The Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) fair is expected to welcome over 45,000 guests at the Excel centre before it concludes on Friday.
Despite the government’s ban on Israeli government delegates, some 51 firms from Tel Aviv, many directly linked to the Gaza genocide, such as Elbit Systems, are still welcome.
Oliver Robertson, of Quakers in Britain, said: “As Quakers, we worship in silence to listen for the promptings of love and truth in our hearts.
“That truth is clear: making money from killing people is obscene.
“Weapons sold here are destroying lives in Gaza and around the world. The real crime is happening inside the arms fair, not outside it.”
Quakers led a “walk of witness” past the headquarters of two arms firms linked to weapons used in the ongoing bombardment of Gaza, L3 Harris and Northrup Grumman on the eve of the fair on Tuesday.
