SPENDING 18 per cent more per school pupil in Scotland is failing to deliver improved outcomes, according to a new report today.
The Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) study notes that Scotland has taken advantage of relatively low growth in pupil numbers over the last decade to rapidly increase spending per pupil.
Since 2009-10, pupil numbers grew by 13 per cent in England, compared with just 2 per cent in Scotland.
With 12,000 fewer teachers since 2010 and dwindling resources, Scotland’s schools desperately need investment to support diverse learners rather than empty promises from politicians, writes ANDREA BRADLEY
