Men’s Football City of Liverpool bolster midfield and defence with new signings

CITY of Liverpool FC announced two new signings on Saturday, bolstering the defence and midfield ahead of next season.

Former Everton youngster and Hull full back James Yates and winger Dominic Reid were unveiled on Saturday morning, with manager Craig Robinson hailing the signing of Yates.

He said: “Jay has an impressive background with coming through the system at Everton, playing for England under-16s, 17s and 18s then having a year at Hull as a professional.

“He’s had a short period out of the game and we’re lucky he’s chose us to give him the platform to get back playing football. He’s a young lad with a lot of hunger, enthusiasm and desire to improve and be successful.”

Yates told COLFC’s official website he was pleased to make his return to football for a club local to his roots.

“I’ve heard a lot about the club so I’m pleased to sign and I’m looking forward getting back playing in my home city.”

Reid had initially signed for the Purps last season but failed to make an appearance due to injury.

Having put pen to paper for the upcoming season, Reid said he was delighted to get a second chance at the club.

“I’m pleased to sign again for the Purps. It was frustrating that an injury stopped me from making my debut last year but I’m glad to be back and looking forward to the new season.”

Robinson added: “Dom Reid is a great addition to the squad that will add pace and strength to our attacking options.

“He was unfortunate last season with injury but the break has given him time to get that right and I’m looking forward to him finally putting on a COLFC shirt and get him playing!”
