QPR 1-1 Notts Forest
by James Nalton
at Loftus Road
QUEENS PARK RANGERS conceded a late equaliser against Nottingham Forest on Friday night, making the 1-1 draw at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium feel like a defeat.
The home side had taken the lead through Lyndon Dykes, who headed home a cross from the ever-impressive Albert Adomah.
But Dykes failed to make the most of a couple of good opportunities in the second half after being sent through on goal twice by Stefan Johansen.
QPR were the dominant side, especially in the second half, and limited Forest to very few, if any, good-quality chances.
But a lead of 1-0 always feels precarious, and it proved to be so when Jack Colback’s speculative long-range strike deflected in off Rangers centre-back Jimmy Dunne.
“In any game, 1-0 is a dangerous scoreline,” said Rs boss Mark Warburton.
“We defended their set-piece threat very well, got a goal before half time and had a lot of chances in the second.
“The dressing room is hurting. Thee points would have put us fourth going into the weekend, but there were still lots of positives.”
Instead of being in the playoff places, QPR now sit eighth in the Championship with every side having played 15 games.
But Warburton is right: there were positives to take from the way his side continued to create good chances and QPR were the side dictating the flow of the game for much of the second half.
Despite the disappointment of the late goal and the unfortunate manner in which it was conceded, they will need to take those positives on their travels to Cardiff and Blackpool this week.
