WEST HAM as good as secured their Premiership future, with this hard-fought win against Manchester United at the London Stadium.

The home side took the lead with a soft goal from Said Benrahma.

The little Algerian struggled free, ending his run with a shot that David de Gea should have easily stopped. But the veteran keeper seemed to get his angles wrong, just helping the ball on into the net.

Previously, Manchester United had the better of exchanges, peppering the West Ham goal with efforts from long range. Antony had two shots, the second nicking the post.

There was then a shout for a West Ham penalty, when Victor Lindelof appeared to clearly handle in the area. Referee Peter Banks waved the claims away.

A West Ham goal from Michail Antonio was then ruled out for an infringement on de Gea.

The home side continued to press, with the Lucas Paqueta and Tomas Soucek combination first bringing a shot into the side netting, then a disallowed headed goal for the big Czech.

Late on, United pressure saw Fabianski push over a Marcus Rashford effort. The keeper then saved from Antony Martial, following a slick exchange of passes with Rashford.

West Ham manager David Moyes praised the character and spirit of his players.

Moyes was philosophical about the two decisions that went against West Ham, hoping things might even out over the coming weeks. Though, he admitted he might have been less generous if the result had been different.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Haag said his team “started well, dictated play, created chances and didn't take them.”

Ten Haag was clear that United need to win three of their four remaining games to secure a top four Champions League place.

“We cannot feel sorry for ourselves, but must take responsibility and focus,” said ten Hag.
