CITY OF LIVERPOOL fought back from two down to draw against Leek Town at the Berry Street Garage Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Louis Keenan’s well-placed free kick put the visitors ahead against the run of play after promising start from the Purps saw Quarless and Mitchley go close.

The visitors then went two up after a mistake at the back saw the lively Aaron Opoku race clear before slotting a composed finish beyond the excellent Calvin Hare.

On the stroke of half time the Purps reduced the arrears courtesy of a stunning long range effort from Josh Quarless which nestled into the top corner, leaving Joe O’Shaughnessy with no chance.

After the break the Purps were much the better side and went close through subs Harry Cannon-Noren and Ismail Sonko who drew goal-line interventions from the Leek rearguard.

City of Liverpool levelled matters late on when Kenny Strickland’s devilish free kick was powered home by a towering header from skipper Danny Mitchley.

They could have won it at the death too when O’Shaughnessy spilled a long ball, but Quarless fired over.
