Women’s tennis: Tamara Korpatsch has slammed doubles partner Harmony Tan for pulling out of their first-round women’s doubles match at Wimbledon.

Tan stunned Centre Court by defeating Serena Williams on Monday night in a first-round singles match lasting more than three hours and will take on Sara Sorribes Tormo in the second round on Thursday.

Tan then pulled out of the doubles on Tuesday afternoon ahead of a scheduled clash against Nadiia Kichenok and Raluca Olaru citing a thigh injury, which did not go down well with her partner Korpatsch.

Men’s cycling: The 109th Tour de France will begin with a short time trial on the streets of Copenhagen on Friday.

The 13 kilometres around the Danish capital are the first of the 3,328 that separate the peloton from the final finish line in Paris on July 24.

Men’s swimming: British swimmer Dan Jervis has come out as gay ahead of next month’s Commonwealth Games.

The 26-year-old Welshman, who won 1500m freestyle silver and bronze at the 2014 and 2018 Games in Glasgow and Australia’s Gold Coast respectively, is set to compete at his third Commonwealths.

Jervis, who finished fifth on his Olympic debut last year in Tokyo, said: “It took me 24 years to be who I am.

“I was adjusting to everything else, just trying to fit in — until I thought: ‘Just be you.’

Men’s football: The government has refused to comment on a report the upcoming review of gambling legislation will see plans dropped for a ban on football clubs having betting firms as shirt sponsors.

It had been suggested ministers would include the recommendations in a white paper which will be published in the coming weeks.

There had been concerns the current historical regulations are now out of touch following the rapid growth and continued expansion of online betting.
