US PRESIDENT Donald Trump played golf on Saturday for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic as the death toll in the country neared 100,000.
Trump was seen leaving the White House on Saturday morning in a white polo neck, a baseball cap and black trousers.
Video emerged later of the President cruising around the golf course at his private Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia.
According to the Trump Golf Count website, the President has made 250 daytime visits to golf clubs since his 2017 inauguration, with evidence of him playing the game on at least 118 visits.
The website estimates the cost of Trump’s golfing to have cost the US taxpayer around $134,000 (£110,140).
In October 2014, Trump blasted then president Barack Obama for his golf outings (which Trump Golf Count estimates to be around 98 trips for the eight years was president).
“Can you believe that with all of the problems and difficulties facing the US, President Obama spent the day playing golf. Worse than [former president Jimmy] Carter,” Trump tweeted at the time during the Ebola epidemic in West Africa.
The United States has the most reported cases of the coronavirus and more than 96,000 deaths — far exceeding Britain (36,675) and Italy (32,735).
