Scotrail boss puts company on war footing with unions
Commuters and travellers at Edinburgh's Waverley Station on Monday, May 23, as Scotrail's deadlock over driver pay continues.

THE boss of Scotrail put the company on a war footing with train drivers’ union Aslef yesterday, saying its demand for a 10 per cent pay rise is unsustainable.

The firm, which was nationalised last month, has introduced a reduced timetable amid an ongoing dispute over pay.

Its members, whose wages are falling well behind spiralling inflation, are refusing to work overtime and on rest days, resulting in a third of daily services being cancelled.
