FASCISTS from Slovakia were thwarted when they tried to meet in London on Saturday.
Members of the LSNS “Our Peoples Party of Slovakia” – including a Slovakian MP and Euro-MP – were planning a meeting for Slovakians living in London, said Unite Against Fascism (UAF).
The LSNS notoriously persecutes Roma people in Slovakia.
Two pub venues were cancelled when proprietors were informed of the nature of the meeting.
UAF’s Paul Sillett said: “They went to a third pub and were refused entry. There were about a dozen of them.
“More than 60 anti-fascists turned up to oppose them. Many of the protesters were Slovakian Roma living in Britain. One group came from Dover. It was really heartening.”
He said the Slovakian LSNS MP and Euro-MP cancelled their visit when they heard about opposition to the meeting.
Police were called to the protest on Saturday but it is understood no-one was arrested.
