MEN’S RUGBY UNION: Full-back George Hendy scored two tries as Northampton battled to a 26-17 win over Exeter in Saturday’s Premiership final. 

Exeter briefly led 17-14 early in the second half before their captain Dafydd Jenkins was yellow-carded.  

Northampton were regular season champions, finishing nine points clear of third-placed Exeter, and claimed the title and final double for the second time in three years.


WHEELCHAIR RUGBY LEAGUE: Table-topping Halifax extended their 100 per cent Super League record to six games after Rob Hawkins scored the late try that sealed a narrow 52-46 win at Leeds on Saturday. 

The teams will meet again in next weekend’s Challenge Cup final. Second-placed London Roosters also remained unbeaten with a 72-24 win over Sheffield, Hull FC saw off bottom of the pile Bradford 68-30 and Wigan won 76-32 in Edinburgh.


NETBALL: Manchester edged out defending champions London Pulse 54-51 to win the Super League Grand Final at their hometown Eastlands Arena on Saturday. 

The teams were level at 51-51 with less than two minutes to go before player of the match Sophie Fawns netted the winning goal. Pulse’s Liv Tchine top-scored with 35 goals. Manchester had won the regular season Super League title by just one point from the Londoners.


MEN’S BOXING: British, Commonwealth and European champion Ryan Garner beat Michael Magnesi by unanimous decision to win the WBC’s interim super-featherweight belt in Southampton on Saturday night. 

Garner improved his unbeaten record to 20-0 while Magnesi suffered a fourth defeat in 30 fights. On the undercard, Lewis Edmondson defended his British and Commonwealth light heavyweight titles with a unanimous decision over Lyndon Arthur.
