MEN’S CYCLING: Mexico’s Isaac del Toro claimed his first ever one-day triumph after winning Wednesday’s Milan-Turin race.
Covering just under 200km and first raced in 1876, Milan-Turin is the oldest one-day race on the calendar. Briton Ben Tullet finished second with Norway’s Tobias Halland Jorgensen third, a further eight seconds back, after the three of them sprinted for the line.
Del Toro’s teammate Adam Yates was fourth.
WOMEN’S CRICKET: Amelia Kerr, the leading wicket taker at the recent Indian Premier League and ICC women’s cricketer of the year, returns to the New Zealand squad for their three-match Twenty20 series against world number ones Australia starting in Auckland on Friday.
Captained by Suzie Bates on her record-breaking 334th international appearance, the White Ferns are reigning Twenty20 world champions but currently fifth in the world rankings.

MEN’S ICE HOCKEY: Samuel Herr netted twice as Nottingham Panthers cruised past Cardiff 5-1 on Wednesday evening to moved second in the Elite League, one point behind table-toppers Belfast, although the Panthers have played two more games.
Cardiff get a chance to put their top three hopes back on track when they host Belfast on Friday night while defending champions Sheffield Steelers, who currently sit third, visit in-form Glasgow.
