TSSA workers force DB Cargo back into pay negotiations

PLANNED industrial action due to commence by rail workers tomorrow has been suspended after freight magnates DB Cargo agreed to talks.

Transport and travel union TSSA made the move to allow for meaningful discussions between workers and management.

A ballot among key control staff was held after the company refused to offer a reasonable pay increase during negotiations in September.

Workers for the firm haven’t had a real-terms pay rise since 2015 and have expressed growing fears about poor staffing and worsening workplace conditions.

TSSA general secretary Manuel Cortes said: “I welcome DB Cargo’s decision to get around the table and talk to us about the fair deal which our members certainly deserve.

“However, our members remain strong and determined to make a real change in their pay and conditions. DB Cargo should be in no doubt about this.”

The planned industrial action short of a strike was to be a continuous work to rule all day and every day.
