SHOPWORKERS struggling to cope with panic-buying appealed to customers today to “buy only what you need.”

The Usdaw union, which represents shopworkers, said “extremely high demand” in stores means that staff are “working flat out so that customers can buy the things that they need.”

The union has appealed to customers not to blame staff for shortages of some goods, urging them to refrain from buying items in excessive quantities.
