BANKING giant HSBC has sold off the last of its shares in Israeli weapons manufacturer Elbit Systems following a year of campaign pressure to cut all ties.
Elbit is one of Israel’s largest arms providers, producing weapons used in military attacks on Palestinians including drones, chemical weapons, cluster bomb artillery systems and other technology.
Elbit Systems has also been excluded from pension and investment funds internationally over the company’s involvement in supplying surveillance systems and other technology to Israel’s Separation Wall and settlements in the West Bank.
